Thursday Night, May 22

Well I have not been able to blog the past several days due to spotty wifi , so I will try to catch up for the past several days

We woke up in Langham Sask and hit the road .   Saw more realty cool barns, and learned that as the Canadian Providence of Saskatchewan was looking for settlers in the late 1800's, they offered acreage to men who would stay for 5 years, and farm, and then they owned the land free and clear  What we have been seeing along the highway is remains of those settlements where many of the houses still remain.   Some have newer beautiful homes on the land, but the original structures are still standing in various states of distress.

Next as we crossed the border from Saskatchewan into Alberta, we stopped at the Visitor Center.   I was curious about this old horse, boy or girl??

I was never quite able to decide.  We saw a Bison made of all barbed wire
I learned that in Northern American Buffalo are called Bison.

We then headed to Battleford, where we wanted to tour the fort, but when we got there, we were met in the parking lot and told there was an "incident" at the fort a\last night and it was closed for the day.   There were RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) all over the place so Tom said what like Graffiti or something like that, and the guy  said, something like that.   So we went to yet another cemetery for Mounted Police who lost their life during the settlement time.

We headed to Vimillion and spent the night there.  It was a Provincial Park (like our State parks) and there was only us and one other camper there.  we went for a walk, found a train and enjoyed the early evening

It has been very  hot  High 80's and muggie.   They tell us this weather is unusual for this time of year.   Two weeks ago, they had snow

Did I mention the mosquito's????    Look closely at this picture.

This is what we encountered on our evening walk.  There were billions of them.  We had o Deet bug spray, but it kept them off our skin, but we finally has to spray our clothes too
